The Expression of Folk Wisdom in Proverbs and Anecdotes: A Comparative Study of Uzbek and English Languages

Folk wisdom plays a vital role in shaping every nation’s cultural heritage. It captures the lived experiences, beliefs, values, and moral lessons passed down through generations. Proverbs and anecdotes are some of the most powerful ways people share their knowledge and perspectives on life. In this article, we explore how folk wisdom appears in Uzbek and English proverbs and anecdotes. By comparing these traditions, we can see both the similarities and unique cultural features that make each one special. The results show that, even with their differences, Uzbek and English folk traditions both value qualities like hard work, honesty, wisdom, patience, and respect for others.
