Abstract
English legal language is a specialised functional variety characterised by precision, formality and structural complexity. This study investigates its lexical, grammatical, semantic and stylistic features within the framework of legal linguistics. A qualitative methodology based on discourse, comparative and functional analysis of legal texts, including statutes, contracts and judicial decisions, is adopted for the research. The findings reveal that legal English is defined by its terminological density, archaic vocabulary, modality, syntactic complexity, and formulaic expressions. These features ensure legal certainty, interpretative stability and normative clarity. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of legal discourse, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary competence in legal interpretation and translation.
