Abstract

This study examines the cognitive-semantic characteristics of phraseological units formed on the basis of exaggeration in English and Uzbek. Hyperbolic expressions are not only stylistic devices but also reflections of mental structuring and cultural cognition. The research focuses on how speakers of both languages conceptualize intensity, quantity, and emotional states through exaggerated phraseology. Using a comparative cognitive-linguistic framework, the paper identifies shared conceptual patterns as well as culturally bound distinctions. The analysis demonstrates that while exaggeration operates as a universal linguistic strategy, its realization is shaped by specific cultural and experiential models.
