Abstract

According to Bergmann and Sams, flipped learning is a pedagogical approach in which direct instruction is transitioned from the group learning space to the individual learning space. The classroom is transformed into a dynamic, interactive learning environment, with the educator facilitating student-driven application of concepts and creativity in the subject matter. Students are provided with new content through videos, followed by the class for participation in a discussion, homework, activities, and projects. Current study seeks to investigate the use of flipped learning strategy in teaching English of university students  oral skills about the traditional one. To realize the goals in this study, the researcher implemented the simi - experimental method. The  population of this study is 144 includes (50) students as for the sample of this study, it includes all the students of university at the first grade at the Math Department at the Collage of  Computer Science and math / Tikrit university whom studied throughout the second semester of the academic year 2024/2025 participated in the investigation. The students were categorized as control (25 students) who were instructed using the traditional approach and experimental (25 students) who were instructed using the reversed learning approach. Pre-posttests were administered to the participants. The study's findings showed that the flipped learning approach had a noticeable effect on the persistence of the influence of prior learning and its transfer to the classroom because it prioritizes student self-learning and makes it the main focus of instruction, which helped the experimental group's students improve their oral English language proficiency.
