Abstract
This article is devoted to the formation of oikonyms, specifically within the Jizzakh region. Oikonyms, or place names of inhabited areas, are primarily formed through onomastic conversion, affixation, and syntactic-lexical methods. These processes reflect linguistic, historical, and cultural influences, shaping the toponymic landscape of the region. Understanding the mechanisms of oikonym formation provides valuable insights into the evolution of language and regional identity. The study also highlights the interrelation between word formation, lexicology, and grammar in the creation of place names.
